The rhythm of ageing of each person is different. Moreover, each of our tissues, organs and systems age at a higher or lower speed inside of us.
The individual is considered to begin his 'programmed senescence'stage, or ageing process, tartup, from 35 years old on, and in a more significant way in the 40s. Hence, it is at from that age when one should start with an age management or antiaging preventive medicine programme. It is never late to start caring for oneself.
The key is in the identification of markers (molecular, physical, anthropometric, hormonal, etc.), that can estimate the degree of ageing of the organism, which is different from the individual’s chronological age.
This way, the premature development of certain diseases related to ageing can be predicted and the risk can tried to be minimised, implementing preventive actions in the medical field and/or modifying parts of our lifestyle.
To correctly carry out an anti-ageing preventive medicine programme, as well as the initial checkup (from which the necessary information to fix the reference point, the prescription and the age management) objectives are obtained), the key is in doing the follow up and maintenance programme with the aim of achieving the desired results in the short, medium and long term.
Gain health as soon as possible
Checkup 2.0. is built for people younger than 40 years old, who are worried about their health and wellness and who believe that feeling good is important.
There is no need to wait to be older to start an anti-ageing program. The sooner we decide to do the checkup, start caring about ourselves and prevent age-related diseases and symptoms, the more time will we have gained to our body 'ageing'. In such a way, we will be able to maintain the balance of our youth in a more efficient and optimal way over time.
What Checkup 2.0. includes?
Medical history/anamnesis and physical examination
An extensive medical history, as well as an initial physical examination, are both essential to obtain a 'picture' of the individual’s state of health.
. Complete analytical profile
In addition to standard parameters, inflammation biomarkers, vitamin levels and hormonal profile are determined, resulting in a more stringent interpretation of results.
. Cardiovascular prevention panel
Cholesterol, lifestyles and current diseases are not enough to accurately predict cardiovascular risk.

Additionally, Checkup 4.0 includes an echocardiogram, to evaluate the heart function and structure, and an advanced analytical profile for cardiovascular prevention.
Also, continuous blood sugar monitoring of the client is carried out, which allows him to know his body’s reaction towards the intake of all types of foods and drinks. This test allows us to anticipate the onset of diabetes years before, detecting the earliest stages of the disease.
. Advanced neurocognitive decline prevention panel
Several trials and tests are done to evaluate the individual’s neurocognitive health and to detect possible damages at an early stage.
A magnetic resonance imaging of the brain is done, the main imaging diagnosis test to determine brain atrophy.
. Oncoprevention study and panel
Neolife has the first Oncoprevention Unit in Spain. In this checkup, an extensive habit study, a genealogical tree, carcinogen element exposure and a physical examination of skin and mucous membranes are carried out.
A chest and abdominal-pelvic CT scan is done with the most advanced scanner at this time, with only 4 units in Spain: the Discovery CT750 HD. It is 20 times more accurate, with 20 times less radiation. It evaluates all anatomic body trunk structures and the presence of tumour masses, cysts, stones and other pathological forms.
Colon cancer screening – A colonoscopy is the most reliable test in screening for colon cancer, though it is subject to certain risks. Therefore, at Neolife, a screening for this type of a tumour is done through a non-invasive test, the Septin 9 Test. This test consists of the determination of the methylated form of the Septin 9 gene in blood, a new genetic tumour marker which is found in over 90 percent of colon tumours, along with faecal occult blood.
Additionally, a series of tumour markers are measured: total PSA, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), alpha-fetoprotein, beta- HCG, calcitonin, Ca 19.9, Ca 125, Ca 15.3, neuron-specific enolase, beta-2 microglobulin, prolactin, etc., as well as serological determinations related to cancer such as the hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus and breath test (H. Pylori).
Once all oncological risks have been analysed, the objective is to evaluate the risk of having cancer and to prescribe other additional tests that are more specific as necessary.
. Respiratory system assessment
The determination of functional biomarkers of the respiratory system is key due to its close correlation with the ageing of our body’s ageing in general.

. Biological Age Measurement
The TAT telomere study determines both medium telomere length and shorter telomere length, which is an excellent ageing biomarker indicator that justifies 30% of the state of cellular ageing.
. Genetic test
Polymorphisms related to genes are analysed, showing a personalised analysis of the main health and longevity biomarkers (cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, osteoporosis, vitamin D, oxidative stress, etc.). The awareness of these polymorphisms allows us to intervene on the trigger factors and prevent these diseases.
. Physical functional evaluation
The analysed biomarkers for the measurement of physical qualities are the same ones which are used in high-performance sport centres for top international athletes: maximal oxygen consumption, ventilatory threshold, muscular power, etc.
. Anthropometric tests
Pictures, fat fold measurement, bone diameters, body circumference, impedanciometry and DXA provide the most precise anthropometric data which can be done in the medical field for an appropriate interpretation of our weight and our body composition.

. Nutrition consultation
Evaluation of nutrition plan in order to define a diet, if applicable, dietary re-education or keeping to the current diet if appropriate.
Panels or tests that are exclusively done in Checkup 4.0 (additional tests/panels not included in the other checkups)
Deterioration or rejuvenation: the checkup helps us to have a starting point; the follow-up programme is the key to obtaining desired results.
Our medical team has been trained and has designed the most complete and sophisticated programme at an international level in the field of anti-ageing preventive medicine based on recent studies and scientific progress as well as in-depth analysis of the medical protocols of the best medical centres specialised in age management medicine in the world.
At Neolife, each programme is developed individually and according to each individual’s needs , always seeking excellence in every single medical treatment.
Our programmes are geared towards individuals who consider their physical, mental, emotional and/or sexual health and their personal wellness, vitality and their quality of life to be important.
All knowledge areas, including those most cutting-edge ones, tend to be structured in an orderly fashion. This way, according to the objectives set in the checkup, a personalized, preventive, proactive and predictive integrated approach will be carried out, based on the pillars of age management medicine pillars.
The Pillars of Our Follow-Up Programme
Our follow-up programmes are based on eight fundamental pillars (exercise, nutrition, nutritional supplementation, metabolic and hormonal balance, rest and oxidative stress, regenerative medicine, behavioural health, detoxification and toxic cessation, as well as the measurement and monitoring of biomarkers over time). The checkup results allow personalised treatments to be prescribed that must be applied for each one of these pillars.
Each individual action has its physiological effect and the sum of them boosts the final result.Exercise
Recent scientific articles are focused on exercise geared towards improving health and wellness and are mainly based on:
There are multiple benefits associated with this type of exercise, like preserving and improving muscle mass, increasing bone mineral density in menopausal women, improving ‘good’ HDL cholesterol, reducing blood pressure, etc.
At Neolife, preferences, fitness level and time availability are considered in order to prescribe an individualised exercise programme based on the latest physical activity science research and its relationship to health and age.
Nutrition
Addressing nutrition with an integral and individualised approach is a key factor. Nutrition focused on age management medicine is based on a low glycemic index diet, which restricts the intake of refined sugars and foods with a high glycemic index.
This diet maintains blood glucose and insulin levels low, allowing the pancreas to carry out its work correctly, which gradually releases insulin. Feelings of fatigue and sleepiness and fluctuating energy levels disappear and the body is able to use fatty acids as an energy source, avoiding an increase of fat and fatty tissue.
The latest scientific research proves that this type of nutrition is excellent for preventing age-related diseases..
Neolife’s comprehensive nutritional model is based on a low glycemic index diet, organic food and nutritional balance.
Nutritional Supplementation
Nutritional supplementation starts when nutrition is not able to maintain key biomarkers at their optimal levels (like vitamins, minerals or omega-3).
From the point of view of preventive medicine the time to start nutritional supplementation could be from 25 years old on, because that is when chronic deficiencies of certain micronutrients begin to accumulate due to a poor diet. However, it is from 40 years old on when this supplementation begins to be essential.
In Neolife’s programmes, nutritional supplementation is prescribed in an individualised way whenever it is necessary to make up for identified deficiencies or to strengthen preventive actions. Anything that cannot be provided with food will be provided by nutritional supplements.
Metabolic and Hormonal Balance
Hormonal health plays an essential role in health, quality of life and wellness in general. Many people are not aware of the great impact that hormones have on their health and ageing, as well as the fact that hormone levels drastically decrease with age.
Hormonal balance in human beings is key to maintaining good health; reducing the risk of age-related diseases; improving physical, sexual and mental capabilities; achieving a decent rest; and, in general, improving metabolism, which leads to increased quality of life.
At Neolife, the bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is prescribed (BHRT), when necessary, to optimise plasmatic levels of those hormones with poor levels and under strict medical supervision.
Bioidentical hormones have the same molecular structure as our own hormones and are metabolised exactly the same as the hormones produced by our endocrine system. Multiple studies have stated that synthetic hormones have damaging effects, while on the contrary, scientific and medical publications admit that bioidentical hormones do not have adverse effects, but quite the opposite.
Rest and Oxidative Stress
Sleep and rest are not the same. One can rest without sleeping and sleep without resting. Our body works like a clock, on a cyclical basis (circadian rhythms), genetically codified and synchronised by the neuroendocrine system (which represents our internal biological clock). With age, this clock loses accuracy, causing sleeping disorders, difficulty in achieving a deeper and more restful rest, seasonal depression, etc. For this reason, sleeping disorders are more frequent over the years, even affecting a very high percentage of the population.
Everyday life, our habits and ageing make our body oxidise and enter a continuous state of inflammation, causing a deterioration process and cellular death produced by free radicals. States of oxidation and inflammation are a determinant factor of age-related diseases: cancer, neurodegenerative, lung and kidney diseases, chronic fatigue, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, etc.
At Neolife, sleep disorders produced by chronodisruption are treated (in other words, desynchronisation of the biological clock) in addition to oxidative stress and inflammation.
The key to both problems is found in taking the correct dose of melatonin at an exact time of day. The rhythmic production and secretion of melatonin decrease from the age of 35 to 40 on and towards the age of 55, it is reduced up to 40 percent. Melatonin intake with the correct dose and at the appropriate time (always with a medical prescription), can improve sleep quality and quantity significantly, therefore returning rest.
Additionally, melatonin has been identified as a modulator of immune system activity, a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, also crucial in regulating the mitochondrial function for ATP production (a form of energy which the cell uses for all its functions) and stopping the damage produced by the ageing process.
Regenerative Medicine
Regenerative medicine is a new branch of medicine whose objective is the renewal of the cells and damaged tissues in a natural way, similar as how it is done by our body.
Cells deteriorate with age and gradually lose their regeneration potential. You will never be younger than now. Nor you nor your cells.
Although it is a very new medicine, regenerative therapy treatments are already being carried out currently in advanced trials with stem cells in cartilage, skin and the cornea.
Furthermore, numerous clinical trials support its promising therapeutic alternative for the prevention of neurodegenerative, cardiac, osteoarticular or hepatic diseases or cancer.
At Neolife, we offer our clients a programme to collect and store stem cells. We also constantly monitor medical-scientific advances made in this field.
This way, if a regenerative treatment that is already approved is needed in the future, we will advise our clients of the possible applications with stem cells at that moment.
Biomarkers Length Control and Measurement
Exhaustive biomedical control of longevity and health markers is a key as a starting point and program follow up, in order to obtain measurable and comparable objectives to be able to take the necessary actions to achieve an optimal health.
Any program´s key to success is its time periodical control, the Health Continuum. Our bodies not only consist in spot check ups with a number of recommendations; in Neolife we establish recommendations and objectives, we give the tools to achieve them and we periodically control the biomarkers evolution.
Consultancy – Behavioural Health, Detoxification and Toxic Cessation
Behavioural Health
Our mood and vitality significantly depend on our psychological and emotional sides. Work, emotional, and economic aspects, amongst others, impact our physical and mental health.
Psycho-neuro-endocrine-immunology is an area of knowledge, with numerous publications, which gives a scientific answer to many ‘miraculous healings’ and alternative therapies. It is known as ‘mind power’.
Neolife has surrounded itself by experts in this field and, according to each individual’s situation, can recommend appropriate behavioural health therapies for each case, as well as relaxation and anxiety control techniques.
Detoxification and Toxic Cessation
There are heavy metals in our body that get inside orally, topically or by inhalation. Our body is able to expel part of these metals mainly through the liver, but in some cases–either because of our body’s deficiencies or due to an excess in these metals our body cannot get rid of them correctly, which in some cases may be toxic. This can lead to health problems such as migraines, headaches, tiredness, etc. and diseases such as anaemia caused by lead, fatigue caused by aluminium, or autism caused by mercury.
Moreover, toxic habits such as smoking, excess alcohol consumption and drug use are preventable causes of morbidity and mortality.
Usually, people who do an anti-ageing medicine program at Neolife show substantial improvements over a short period of time, although it depends largely on the person’s initial health state. If the starting point is very good, improvements are subtler. But if it is low improvements in health, vitality, mind and wellness are very significant.
Our main objective is to prevent future diseases. However, in the short term, there is also an overall improvement in the feeling of health, with benefits at a cellular, physical and mental level, avoiding downfall over the years. You realise the overall result of the programme over the years when you compare yourself with your peers who do not do anything proactive to maintain their health.
Neolife is not an ordinary anti-ageing clinic since it does not present an anti-ageing approach to external aesthetics. At Neolife, we focus on maintaining and improving quality of life as long as possible by applying today’s most advanced scientific knowledge.
Neolife’s medical programs are geared towards all men who are worried about their health, who are already 35 years old and whose objective is to 'take care of themselves and to prevent all age-related diseases’ in addition to ‘feeling and looking fine for as long as possible'..
Just like women suffer menopause, men go through a period called andropause, which starts from 35 to 40 years old on, known as the 'crisis at 40' Neolife offers an integral treatment which will help them to improve during this period of their lives.
Age management medicine prevents age-related diseases such as cardiovascular health, cognitive function, immunologic system, osteoporosis, etc. and improves symptoms related to age..

The determination of functional biomarkers of the respiratory system is key due to its close correlation with the ageing of our body’s ageing in general.
. Bone densitometry
Bone mineral density is measured using the most sophisticated device on the market (DXA-Lunar), which indicates the degree of decalcification.
. Rest evaluation
There are more than 100 types of sleeping disorders. At Neolife, we focus on the one that is due to the ageing process, chronodisruption, in order to evaluate the appropriate melatonin prescription.
. Oxidative and inflammatory stress state
The measurement and interpretation of certain biomarkers measurement and their balance at intracellular level give us information about the oxidative and inflammation state, and therefore, about the necessity to take or not to take antioxidants, the dose and to quantify its effectiveness.
Pictures, fat fold measurement, bone diameters, body circumference, impedanciometry and DXA provide the most precise anthropometric data which can be done in the medical field for an appropriate interpretation of our weight and our body composition.
. Hormonal profile evaluation
The precise determination of different hormonal levels is key to evaluating the need for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy to achieving a metabolic and hormonal balance.
. Other tests
Each person is an individual who is treated in a unique way, so this is why in each of the specific checkups we can add, modify or eliminate tests according to the person’s medical history and objectives.
. Medical consultations
Review of the clinical aspects of the tests done, evaluation of diagnosis and therapeutic guidance.
. Review of gynaecological tests(only for women)
Review of medical history and analysis of gynaecological tests.
